  • Good

A bit confusing because I takes us backwards whilst I expected a continuation of this series, we already had Hui as an adult in the previous books from this series yet in this one he is still young, also Pharao Mamomose was killed at war previously, Lostris also is suppose to be already dead, Taita is suppose to be a Warlock. There’s a lot in this book that makes me think that it should have been written much earlier around the time of the River God perhaps it would have fallen nicely in line of this series.

  • Entertaining, but badly written

The story is entertaining enough, but the actual writing is terrible. When Wilbur Smith himself is writing, it is a pleasure to read. Not so this time.. Very staccato and hard to read. And I'm not even native to English.

  • A tribute

This is a tribute to a great writer. I will always remember him as on of the finest writers I have ever read. R.I.P. Wilbur and we’ll done Mark Chadbourn, I hope you have it in you to write the final saga to a great series.

  • Unnecesary violence

Pure Wilbur Smiths adventure but with a massive amount of violence, I think that his later books are not as good as his earlier books
