    The Ones Who Got Away

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last, I loved her voice and can't wait to dive into more of her stuff. The Ones Who Got Away deals with the aftermath of tragedy, ten years later to be exact. It follows the survivors and highlights some of the ways in which they coped with what happened and the varying levels of strength it takes to continue to live in the face of something like that. I think the author did a good job with portraying it. I loved the way the main characters and their rekindled romance was crafted as well as the supporting characters, the author gave just enough about them to leave the reader intrigued and wanting more. I definitely want more of them all especially Rebecca I need to know what's going on with her. All in all I found it to be a quite enjoyable read and I definitely recommend it to one and all. Survivors’ Guilt

Wow! This book grabbed me from the start and wouldn’t let go! I don’t normally read contemporary love stories, or any kind of love unless it is paranormal or erotica, but when I read the blurb about survivors of a school shooting I thought it sounded really interesting. I noticed the reviews with 3 Stars were mainly thinking this was more just a romance and thought it had too much of the violence or story about shooting. Some thought it was too insta-love with Finn and Liv. I think I liked it because there was more story about events that happened in, not only Finn and Liv’s lives, but also those who survived and became friends with her afterwards. The romance was a bonus. Liv had moved away and hadn’t talked to anyone who survived since high school. It just brought back too many memories to everyone involved so they just went about their daily lives trying to forget and make the most of it. I feel like that is one thing that has helped them become successful. Live and some other classmates made a pact their senior year to live life to the fullest for the survivors who would never get the chance to follow their dreams. They were determined to make things happen. I also believe this is why Liv ad her friends aren’t married. They never have time because of work and life. I loved the characters and Liv’s friend Kincaid is one of my favorites. I can’t wait to see if she gets a book. I didn’t think Finn and Liv were too insta-love. After all, in high school they were crazy about each other, even if they never mentioned love. At that age, sometimes you’re afraid to because you’re afraid it will ruin what you have. And who has the nerve to be the first to say it? Liv is grasping onto life like she said she would. Trying to be fearless, not reckless. She is, I think, 30 years old now and has never forgotten Finn or felt the same with anyone. It was mentioned in the beginning how Finn was thinking they were both seeing each other as the people they were in high school. The people in the now were totally different. But deep down, the old Finn and Liv were in there. I feel like it was the perfect timing for them. And they could help each other heal.

A gripping, amazing, must read romance story.

Usually, I don’t like reading books that are inspired by actual events, but this author did an amazing job writing the emotions. It’s the first book I have read that tackled a situation like this and didn’t feel like it was a mockery. ** It’s crazy how many emotions I felt pouring from the pages in just the beginning. And the further into the book I had gotten, the more those emotions grew. It‘s seriously the perfect love story. This book had gripped me from the beginning, and once I started, I could not stop reading.  ** Finn and Liv have survived a tragedy in their younger years, and now that they are grown, they will deal with those emotions head on. The pain, regrets, the what if’s, the old memories of that fatal day, and it is so heartbreaking. ** The plot was intense, and the emotions were raw. The only thing I hadn’t liked was the romance level. I love hotness, and that part came a little late in the game. Just when you thought it was steaming up, it came to a halt. ** Though, when it finally it happened. It happened. Their connection was intense, and it was scorching hot. The build-up was perfect, and I could connect to these beautifully written characters.  I loved the back characters and fell in love with the main characters. The authors writing is good, better than good, actually. Her writing is powerful and emotional. I cannot put into words how much I loved how this author tackled a situation so deep and nailed all the emotions. I have so much respect for the author for writing such a beautiful love story with such a depression plot and not making a mockery out of it. I didn't like the teenage Finn, but I fell in love with the, "Now," Finn. I am happy I came across this book. I needed a five-star read in my life. If I could give more, then five stars I would. I loved Finn and Liv. I liked the epilogue, but I wished it went further into the future. It wrapped the story up nicely, but with a tragedy like this one, I wished I could have read on their marriage, babies, and deeper into their future.  I am happy to announce that I will move forward with Rebecca’s book!
