Good story, but the characters don't quite work

I wanted to read this book, because although I enjoyed the first book in this series, there was just something not quite realistic about the characters. There was definitely promise for a good military sci-fi series, and I had hoped the character issues would get worked out as the author got more comfortable with the series. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened, so I won't be continuing further with these books.

    Jolly good read

The book seemed a bit contrived for the first couple of chapters, as if the characters had all become shallow single dimensional strangers, and the author was struggling to set the scene. But then it got into stride, and the carry over characters turned back into themselves, thinking and behaving as before. I'll never know if women in command would really act the way Siobhan Dunmore (And Honor Harrington) do, but I do feel that the author captures the nurturing nature of women, even when put in difficult life threatening situations. This series looks like becoming one of my favorite space operas.

    Great Series

This continues a believable and fascinating series as a ship and crew fight treachery and danger. Well written and logical.

    Good read

Continues after book 1 without too much repetitiveness. Bit of a change of pace with less battles and more introspection. Will continue to read the series.
