  • Gritty Romance

This is a very different historical romance. It starts with the introduction of the heroine, Maddie, in her pottery home town and a near drowning. We follow her progress and relationship with Daniel, and his sister Hetty. The writing shows the horror of the poverty and illness’ endemic in the pottery towns. Maddie's thoughts, longings and desire to move up and out are an integral part of this story not just background. The romance takes twists and turns as does Maddie's life. Pages are turned to find out what fortune has in store for her and Daniel. This is one of the better historical romances to my mind, hard hitting, genuine but a lovely romance as well.
