  • Not a bad book, but might not please everyone.

I’ll start by saying that I haven’t (yet) read the first book of this series, but it didn’t make much of a difference, since the characters in the previous book only appear by letter and what they did is well explained. I’m not the biggest fan of revenge books, even though this revenge usually disappears when the couple gets together. In this case, as you can see in the synopsis, Tobin blames his father’s death on Lily Boudine, who, when she was 8, stated that she had seen his father in the night that the Ashwood jewels had been stolen. What I really liked was the mystery of the jewels. That mystery (which doesn’t finish in this book) was what got me hooked up on the book (and it wasn’t that special, to be honest). The romance was very weak, and, in all honesty, I didn’t like the main characters. I thought that Tobin’s revenge was a bit too much and I didn’t like that he would put other people in jeopardy when they depended the Ashwood property for their livelihood – I agree with Lily about this. Only when she puts it right in front of his nose that other people are being hurt because of him, he changes his revenge and starts helping those that in another way would lose everything. The romance could have been better developed, I would have liked to see more of it and less revenge. It’s not a bad book, but I don’t think it will please everyone. I’m going to read the next one because I want to know what really happened with the jewels and I also want to know more about the character that we meet at the very end of the book.

    Thanks for your feedback!
