Great story line, heroine was childish

Ysabella is a commoner, she has no expectations of , well, anything. Her mother has passed and she has the care of her brother and sister to worry about. She was married, but her husband was not to be trusted, so she left him and returned to the village where she was raised. Her husband seeks her out, not right away, but after 5 long years. he needs her help but she is unwilling to bend to his wishes, thinking him the worst kind of liar. He tries to persuade her, but she will not help him. He leaves nd the next day, his faithful man Fitz comes to see Ysabella. What she is given then is a blessing and a curse. I will, unabashedly, admit that I read this in one day. I finished in the early morning hours but was not satisfied. The writing was well done and I found the topic of the relics in the story very intriguing. I also thought Merlyn, Ysabella's husband, did his best, Ysabella is a very headstrong woman. So much so that I could not like her. I felt she used her "convictions" to lash out anytime she felt she needed the upperhand, but it was just fine if she did the same as she accused Merlyn of, as long as it was to save her family. She reminded me of a religious zealot who condems a person for the same sin they feel absolved from after confession. She beat him with her self rightousness. I kept reading hoping for some explaination as to why she was this way, but none came. The story was worth the read, I just wish I new why Ysabella fought so hard against a love so strong. Just to prove she was better? I'm not sure! Like I said, the writing was great, the story intriguing and I will definately read more of this author. Ysabella just rubbed me wrong. *Copy gifted by the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

    not my usual read

I wasn't sure I would like the book as it's not my favourite time period, but the story was very compelling. I find I really want to read more in the series!

    Scattered story

It was alright just the story seemed scattered. Place story in more continuous line. Has far too many details...
