  • Mystery

A smart who-dunnit with a mysterious stranger, a nasty murder or two and a good police procedural to sort out the killer. A good follow up from 'The Ruin '.

  • Gets better

I really liked this... it's better than her first book. Editing is average with errors in characters names but the writing is good.

  • Absolute Ripper of a Read

I read The Ruin first then hastened to acquire this title. Dervla McTiernan has created an absorbing universe with Cormac Reilly at its centre. The characters are strong and leave lasting impressions, not all of them good. Just like real life. They have flaws and there is no attempt to hide them. The narrative flows fast and in great detail so the book ended for me way before I was ready for it to be over. I look forward to the next episode in the series.

  • The Scholar

This was such a wonderful, intensely exciting book. I loved it even more than The Ruin because Dervla McTieran’s writing is sublime! I was completely hooked by the novel and couldn’t put it down. She has outdone herself yet again! Love it! :)
