    Another great Vera story.

British crime writing at its best. A credible plot and characters who you feel you know personally.

    Seagull

Ann Cleeves has once again delivered an intensely intriguing book. I found it hard to put down. Though complex with many layers the excellent writing made reading a pleasure. Thank you for another great book.

    Another great Vera Stanhope book

This book centres around Vera's father Hector, his 3 close friends who were known as "The Gang of Four and a murder that happened decades ago. Vera has her own gang of four with Joe, Charlie and Holly helping her to solve the murder. I love how Ann Cleeves has developed these characters and their relationship with each other over the 8 books.
