  • Enjoyable military SciFi

I have been enjoying the Honor Harrington books. The plots are good, the characterisation excellent, the ships big and the battles bigger! But this one didn't grab me. I think it was the time spent on the political machinations in the Peoples Republic. The time with Honor largely makes up for this. The other problem is the predictability of some of the plot. We know that things are going to be arranged so that it is up to Honor and her ship to save the day. But, even so, it's worth it. The battle is big, violent and decisive.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • The Short Victorious War

This is reread number four and again, review number 4. Twice before I mentioned command blues after losses. Now I was only a nco. Us non coms are goal oriented. We morn the Lost once we have a beer in our hands and with friends around. We don't go maudlin. Buy the book and tell me I'm wrong. It has to be worth buying if I'm reading it for the 4th time in so many years!
