A lot of build up with no crescendo

I found this book interesting, but it didn't work structurally. The whole way through I was waiting for the significance of the intriguing introduction. When the fora are finally connected, it seemed innocuous. A good effort for a first novel, however. And perhaps much was lost in translation.

    Mixed emotions

So much of this book was about emotions but at the end...the end? There was no end...there was a point where the author stopped writing but I have no more of an idea how that was an ending fitting to the story than if it had ended with a chapter 200 pages earlier. His story telling has moments of brilliance and then moments that make me think he has no clearer idea where he is going than this ill fated American Airlines pilots...I loved it I loathed it...no, I didn't have either of those emotions actually, it just...was...and I was compelled to read it to see if it was more than just...what it was...to those moments of brilliance I give five stars, to those moments of complete disinterest I give a one...to the book, I must give a three.

    Masterful Storytelling

The story begins with a beguiling character and morphs into a story about an acquaitance he makes. A story for our times.

    A sorrowful and personal approach

Well written and very enjoyable however it was not a book that was gripping. Seemed to be cathartic more than anything
