  • You won't want to put it down till the ene

This was the best book. One that you can't put it down.until you finish the last sentence. Jess meets the cutest guy at her aunt and uncles party one day. They chat and sit. She feels sparks but when he is honest about having a girlfriend, she thanks him for meeting him and says goodbye. She later finds out that Sam has broken up from his four year relationship with Victoria. Same a Jess begin to see each other but the ex and his parents are still stuck on his life with Victoria. Jess begins to see things messing up, at her work, the way Sams oldest friend and mother thinks and acts. While all this is going on, Jess is also working through her childhood to see how things really are. Will the be together in the end? Will Jess figure out what happened as a child?

  • Is a spark enough?

When Jess meets Sam they have an instant "spark" that neither one of them can deny. Only problem is that Sam has a girlfriend at the time, but a month later when he contacts her and is a single is a different story. The connection that they feel for one another continues to grow the more time they spend together. Things seem to be going well until Sam's ex starts causing them issues and takes things too far. Is a spark and deep connection with someone enough to put up with all the craziness?

  • I wish it was more

I wish that some of the story was told from a different point of view. Sam, for example, came off as weak and fickle at times, and I don’t believe that was the author’s intention. And Victoria, the villain, could have been a more sympathetic character had we been given an insight into her thoughts, not just quickly told about her history second hand. I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

  • Heart-tugging, sweet, and sincere!

The Spark is an uplifting, engaging tale that takes us to into the lives of Jess and Sam, two people who after feeling an immediate connection when they first meet struggle to navigate all the highs and lows of a relationship plagued by disappointed parents, strained friendships, jeopardized careers and an extremely scorned ex. The writing is warm and light. The characters are patient, supportive, and compassionate. And the plot is a delightful mix of life, love, family, friendship, chemistry, attraction, heartfelt moments, self-discovery, taking chances, and moving on. Overall, The Spark is another captivating, tender, satisfying tale by Wake that’s perfect for fans of contemporary romance novels that are brimming with heartache and hope.

  • Light-hearted Romance!

High 3⭐ I'm usually not a fan of insta love romances and this book is practically the definition of instalove - but in this instance it just worked for me. I loved both main characters, they were instantly likeable and their relationship was written really well. There is a nice amount of development for the characters including side characters. I think this book is packed full of so many important messages. My only criticism would be that it got quite repetrative quite quickly so there were times I was a little bored with the story. I would have also liked an epilogue, but that's personal preference. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would recommend to anybody looking for a light, easy read.
