    The Templars

A most interesting & fascinating read & relatively easy to understand. I now feel if as if I have a much better understanding of the history of the Templars.

    Gripping read, if big book.

It was a hard to put down book, I kept wanting to know how events unfolded. I found it a little difficult to keep abreast with the many characters he introduced, and would like better maps to refer to (I'd prefer to print those pages). It has made me want to try another of his books.

    Live by the sword...

A very readable account of the history of the Templars with sound academic research giving depth and understanding to a subject of mythical proportion. If there's one thing this history shows, it's the futility of violence - ideological or political. History continues to repeat itself in 'Outremer'.

Well written history told at a cracking pace.

This is the second book of Dan Jones I have read. Despite his detailed trawl through history in the Middle East and Europe his writing is like that of a novelist and a good one at that. The pages simply fly buy. His research is meticulous and his prose is clear and expressive. it's sad to see that this book covers an area which still gets headlines, for all the wrong reasons, on today's evening news: nearly a thousand years later. We seem to learn nothing over time.

    Loved it!

My kind of history book. Presents the story of the Templars in an entertaining way, but yet provides the evidence supporting the content. Made me want to read more.
