  • Loads of magic and myth.

Carter and Sadie have to do something drastic to save the world from the rise of Chaos. They gamble for time, search the world for missing parts of a scroll and then go into the Duat to find the missing parts of Ra so they can revive him – all before the gods rebel against the plan and destroy them and before Apophis destroys them all. Action packed scenes, bit of romantic suspense for Sadie, twists and turns, vivid imagery and great worldbuilding await the reader in the sequel to the Red Pyramid. Same trigger warnings as the first: some people don’t like mixed couples or mixed-race children, so the Kane family will bother them to no end. There’s also the death of parents to deal with. And the five gods going from siblings to spouses/offspring can be a little yuck and confusing. Also, their friends have to deal with death, too. Sadie and Carter learn to look deeper at situations, which is a lesson everyone should learn. Not middle-grade but not young adult either. Though, I think this might be higher middle-grade (ten and up). An enjoyable fast-paced read with lots of magic and myth
