  • Lovely Florida Gothic

As usual, the characters pull you in and don’t let go. Just like a certain bridge. This time, the story is about the aftermath of something terrible rather than the challenge of living through it. Painfully timely, that.

  • Perfect title!

Got you into the story straight away! Loved the characters! How they interacted with each other. I loved it for being a page turner and also for me a fast paced book. You wanted to keep finding out what was happening and reading this book was so enjoyable! Didn't want it to end so quickly. It could have turned out so many different ways! Really great read! Nicely done! Need another book like this to read now! Hahaha

  • Mixed feelings

I finished this book with mixed feelings. I found parts of it seemed a little long and even slow. For instance, the descriptions of the swamp towards the end. Even though there were technically 3 points of view, they were all describing very similar things. And then on the other hand, there were times I felt like I was missing information, as if there was a prequel that I had not read. I was left wondering about a lot of things... how did Cameron end up in Staywater, where did old ladies get their abilities, and what was up with that doll house? Why create the doll house, describe it, and then use it so briefly. There were just too many things left unexplained. That said, the ladies, Claire and Daisy, were positively delightful, and the reason I kept reading. I so enjoyed these rather eccentric characters and their conversations with each other. They were interesting, amusing, endearing and the best part of the novel hands down. I actually wish there had been more about them and less about a couple of the other characters.
