Dont stop the press- read on

The press has come to the Discworld- and the truth must be told. A laugh out loud story of dwarves, journalists, killers, dogs, humorously shaped vegetables and naked men pursued by the Watch. A great book for lovers of the Discworld and newbies as well.

    The Truth - Terry Prtachett

As with all Pratchett novels, The Truth is as enjoyable as it is hilarious. Pratchett’s unique wit comes through with his wonderful characters, compelling story, and unusual perspective on human nature. I recommend this book for any lover of fantasy.

    One of Discworld's best books

I wasn't sure what to expect with this stand-alone book that doesn't follow Sir Terry's usual characters. I've been reading the Discworld series in order and so far, even his worst is passable. However, The Truth is for me, up there with Small Gods, and now I have 2 favourite books in the series. These 2 books are profound and the delivery of their profoundedness is with humour. This is a feat in it of itself. I wouldn't have thought it possible. Sir Terry's voice is a style unto itself. He has wisdom to impart and he does so without the reader realizing it. His opinions could be contraversial but they are communicated in inoffensive, funny parables that can be digested by many of those whose opinions would otherwise polarize. Not all his books have a message, but all of them are presented with a wry humour. This book and Small Gods have a message to tell and they do so with protagonists that are interesting and that we can rally behind. Its plot has enough unexpected turns to keep the reader hooked. Violence, racism, sexual tension presented in gentle language so that if the reader isn't ready to see it, s/he won't.

    The Truth

Average Terry Pratchett, not one of the best.
