Minette Walters in her usual fine form

If The Last Hours were an apocalypse novel, this sequel is the New World Order While written about the aftermath of the plague in Dorset, one could be forgiven for having flashbacks of Rick Grimes and his Merry Men in The Walking Dead. Told in quite a meandering fashion, it concludes the tale of Thaddeus Thurkell and anachronistic Lady Anne of Develish with a message of hope for the future. Not as riveting as the first volume, but like slipping on old shoes to fall back into the tale of these characters lives. Plenty of high tension and early political intrigue Read if you enjoyed the first and were eagerly awaiting the next instalment. Better if you enjoy The Walking Dead or Robin Hood. Best if you always root for forward thinking heroines to save the day
