  • Accomplished, but not to my taste.

The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra has the feel of a Golden Age murder mystery, but is set in modern India and so is grittier and less fanciful than classic Golden Age works. While the story is compelling enough, I kept wanting it to be either gritty or fanciful. I suspect I don't feel enough of a connection with the world in which these books are set to develop any sympathy for the characters.

  • Tender, humorous and altogether wonderful

This is a tender and thoughtful story with humorous undertones, in spite of the gritty gangster world of Mumbai. My favorite sentence: "She handed him a box of matches and told him to talk less and do more". I won't share the exact situation here, so it'll stay a surprise. I absolutely recommend this book and will buy the others in the series.

  • Charming Story

I like the pace of the stlory even though the role of the elephant is not believable!
