  • The vanishing point

The usual twists & turns as always with this author, but I found it difficult to engage with most of the characters & therefore found it hard to care what happened to them.

  • Not the usual McDermid

Two novellas in one, and before the crime novel really gets going, the reader has had to plough through a backdrop that is implausibly long in the context, to the extent that one wonders whether it truly comes under the heading of crime fiction. The first half of the novel also seems to contain snatches of a very personal experience.

    Thanks for your feedback!
