  • My favorite thing about the couple in this romance is their adult-ness. I do not mean that they are constantly engaging in "adult situations", though there is some of that, too! They move through their world with the experience of adults. Their romance is quiet and passionate, gradually building friction as the plot progresses. Excellent.

  • Great series and author

I love the interactions between her characters, especially the fact that the men aren't afraid to show love and affection for each other. The characters also grow in their understanding of themselves and others. The topper is the wonderful dialog, both aloud and internal. Many excellent phrases. Be warned, once you start, it's hard to stop.

  • Not a Serenade

The basic storyline is standard - a lordling meets a lady with a secret and rescues her. It is just that neither Valentine Windham nor Ellen FitzEngle are the typical lordling or lady, as the author so aptly portrays as she weaves the story of their hesitantly blooming relationship in the midst of hopefully temporary handicaps, meddling relatives, labourious home renovations and interfering villainous louts. I really enjoyed Valentine's public declaration of his intentions - that definitely throws mere serenades into the shade! Sweet, moving, touching, romantic and downright magical - this is worth re-reading.
