  • Author in want of an editor

Decent plot and character development, particularly when viewed as a stand alone novel. However, as with the other books in this series, there is a tendency away from readable sentence structure or consistency in storyline. Players are added and unmasked without understandable inclusion and ends are left loose with no recourse to tie them up. Actions and dialogue are repeated within the course of paragraph, causing this reader deja vu and breaking any disbelief I had suspended. Wouldn't read again.

  • Fabulous mystery romance

This is a fabulous book from Kathy L. Wheeler that kept me up late into the night in order to discover all of the twists and turns, mysteries and romance of this latest Rebel Lords of London tale. This story follows the recovery of Brandon Radcliff, Viscount Harlowe, and his interaction with his family, friends and Maeve - his self-appointed nurse maid who is trying to escape the matchmaking machinations of her mother. It answers many of the questions raised in previous books. What did happen to Brandon? Is he the villain or the hero of the series? Will he have a happily ever after? I loved the heat, the suspense and the character development in this novel. I so admired Maeve’s intelligence and her problem solving skills and appreciated that this yarn gave us updates on many of the characters from the earlier stories especially Maude, Irene and Cecilia. This book also highlighted some of the less savoury problems experienced by some children, especially poor and orphaned ones, during the times outlined and this added to it’s appeal. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical tales whether they be fiction, mystery or romance. I hope that the author can find a way to add another novel to this series - it is one of my favourites.
