  • An engaging read

Although there is no main villain in this book, it is still full of tension and action. As the crew travel further east, each of the islands pose a threat to them with a different type of conflict on each one. At first, the reader dislikes Eustace as he refuses to help the crew and refuses to take part in anything. He is rather arrogant, which causes the reader to dislike him. However, as he realises his mistake and adopts a new attitude, the reader starts to forgive him and begins to like him as he helps the crew. His friendship with Reepicheep is admirable and this means that their parting is sad. I have to admit, I did cry when Reepicheep said goodbye to Eustace and the Pevensie’s. Overall, this books is full of action with the crew of the Dawn Treader having to overcome various obstacles.
