  • This book is awesome!!

I love this book so much and have now read it more than 5 times. It is so good along with the other book in the series, the war that i finally won. It describes a day in the life for a badly treated girl. Ada is such a cool charecter and is such a soilder for going on through her mam's bad treatment.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • A very touching story

My daughter read this book and enjoyed it so I decided to read it. What an amazing story! Ada has had such a difficult life but overcomes so many of her problems. She is very inspiring. I am looking forward to the sequel.

  • The War That Saved My Life

Ada was raised in a one room in east London. Her Mam is ashamed of her club foot. When war breaks out and children are sent to the country, Ada sneaks out with her younger brother, Jamie. Ada and Jamie are looked after by a woman named Susan Smith. Susan lived alone except for a pony named Butter which Ada instantly falls in love with. The book tells of Ada's hardships and sufferings but also her spirit and bravery. I would recommed this book to anyone as it is one of my favourites (which is saying something as I have read many exiting books). It is historica fiction and set in WWII. For people who enjoy this book the sequel has been released, The War I Finally Won. :)

It was a beautiful book! I got really enaged into the story. Ada was a very brave young women, she went through a horrible war at the age if 9. Also with a twisted foot.
