  • Definitely Worth the Read.

Let me start of by saying wow. After reading the blurb I wasn’t too sure what to make of it. I thought Nya was trying to go overboard by throwing in the magic scene as well as a movie star, and I felt like it would all be a little too much. But boy was I wrong. The idea of it definitely caught my attention, and i wanted to see just how it played out. I read the sample first, as i do with essentially every book i read, and before we talk spoilers (which will be highlighted down below) I’m going to try and convince you that this is WORTHY BUY. Now for fans of fantasy books, this has it all. It has a little bit of a Vampire Academy vibe with the school and the secret from the human world, but minus the vampires. Instead it focuses on Phoebe Pope, who, having suffered loss throughout her lifetime, never seems to complain all that much. Now one of my biggest pet peeves is a Heroin who does nothing but whine and wait for someone to come a long and rescue her (Elena Gilbert, Cough – only on the screen though, Book Elena is a WHOLE other thing). The thing about Phoebe, is that she is incredibly independent. And rightfully so, considering the warnings of her father and the unknown future of her gift. And that’s where Hayley comes in. Now i love a good book that features a genuine girl/girl friendship and surprisingly, not many books actually manage to get it right. The Year of Four however, DOES. And i am here for it. Then you have Phoebe’s relationship with the other three, which Nya again seems to just get right. Now if you’re looking for a book that features a strong heroine, some godly boys and a true friendship – then this is the one for you. Might i also add there is no love triangle!!! Shocking, I know. But it really adds depth to the book, and means that the brilliance of the story can be shown without being interrupted by some soppy love tale. And even though I do love a good book about romance, it is totally true that you can have. too. much… Because of the word limit on this review, I can't include spoilers (sad face). But if you're interested in reading my full thoughts, head to https://bailliewinters.home.blog/ where it will be in all of its goody goodness.

  • Magic, romance, danger and prophecy in a magical boarding school

This was a good YA paranormal with a boarding school for the supernatural shaper(ie shifter) kids camouflaged in an actual boarding school. There is a prophecy, plenty of action, romance, mystery and betrayal and an almost Hogwarts feel to the hidden school Below.
