    Wrecked by the Best

Wrecked by the Best You don’t finish a Rose Gardner book without needing some time to process what you’ve just flown through at astronomical speed. In fact, you don’t finish reading ANY book written by Denise Grover Swank without immediately thinking, “How soon can I start re-reading?” The opening line accurately sums up where we left off with Thirty-Four and a Half Predicaments. Thirty-Five opens with, “They say sitting in a jail cell can make you reevaluate your life.” I dare say Rose is taking being falsely accused of hiring Daniel Crocker to murder her mother FAR better than I would. I’d probably be curled in a corner hyperventilating. The web J.R. Simmons carefully laid for Rose has finally ensnared Rose and left her at the mercy of a corrupt Fenton County judicial system. Carter Hale is the only attorney willing to take her case, and even he had to be “convinced” to do so. The thing about Rose is that she’s no wallflower any longer. This woman is a force to be reckoned with as she takes matters into her own hands and sets out to find proof she’s not only innocent, but that J.R. Simmons is a snake needing to have his head cut off … with a dull shovel … after being repeatedly bludgeoned for fun. Sorry, lost in the moment there. Rose’s pondering of, “How could one evil man destroy so many lives?” is spot on - and it’s time for J.R. to realize she is NOT weak nor is she at his mercy. And that leads to another favorite quote, “We're all tangled up in the same ball of yarn, Carter Hale. I save one of us, I save us all.” I’m not spoiling anything when I mention another aspect of how very much Rose has evolved since Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes. The show of love and support by those who’ve come to love her touched me so much. Another favorite and powerful quote was Rose’s realization how much she’s loved - “I’d gone from friendless and lonely to bursting at the seams with people who loved and cared about me.” That line right there … no words! And can I say how much I love Jed? He’s a hero on multiple levels, and there’s no way I can imagine her being Lady without Jed there watching her back. Swank knows how to ensnare your emotions and take you on a roller coaster ride. In the same chapter you can laugh, cry, and rage only to be left frantically flipping to the next page to see what will happen next. I honestly don’t think roller coaster ride even does justice to how this story progresses all the way up to the last page. I’d say it reaches g-force, and I will be waiting to find out where Thirty-Six and a Half Motives takes us, where Denise takes us, where ROSE takes us. It’s time for the Lady in Black to make another appearance. Look out J.R., Rose Gardner is coming for you!

Wow. Just, Wow....I loved this book - it picks up right where 34.5 left off and throws you into a whirlwind story that will have you flying through the pages as quickly as possible to see what happens next. The author made me feel like I was experiencing the tale along with the characters and feeling their emotions. If you are a fan of the Rose Gardier series, you will love this book. And if you're not, do yourself a favor and start the series with the first book.

    All aboard the love train!

All aboard the love train! Just when you think Denise Grover Swank cannot possibly out-do herself…she goes and does it time and AGAIN! Thirty-Five and a Half Conspiracies brings together just about everything the series to a head. It’s fast-paced, stressful, and, at times, heart wrenching. For me, this installment’s theme was facing the consequences of your actions. By the end, even everyone who wins still loses…and I love it! The meat of this book is about publicly outing JR Simmons as the monster he is, while trying to prove Rose’s innocence. As always with the Rose Gardner Mysteries, there’s layer upon layer of passion, sub-plots, and deceit. Rose as the Lady in Black is in full bloom and proves to be an unstoppable force. Neely Kate reveals more about her very colorful past and I’m VERY eager to learn more. I’ve got my own theory about her, but this isn’t the place for theories! Joe sets out to take down his father. Mason’s life is still very much in danger. Skeeter Malcom is a very welcome anti-hero with a heart of gold. Kate and Hilary are still as trustworthy as the average politician who promises you the world and gives you nothing. Not only is there a mysterious benefactor for Rose, there’s also a shady stalker. Why did I call my review the love train? It’s simple: everyone (including the bad guys adoration of her Lady in Black persona) loves Rose. She’s got no less than four men desperate for her in one way or another. My only two gripes are 1) The tidbits we’re fed about Violet, Hilary, and Kate are STILL dangling in the air with no resolution at the end of this installment; and 2) While JR has been captured, little happened to solve the smaller mysteries that make up the mythology of the series. At the end, I still wanted more, even though this is the longest novel of the series. However, that’s entirely okay! I trust Denise’s vision for the series. I am certain that the 9th novel with be every bit as action packed and satisfying. Finally…both #TeamJoe and #TeamMason need to brace themselves. ;) Thirty-Five and a Half Conspiracies is one heck of a fast-paced adventure that you cannot miss. I’m sure the six-month wait for Thirty-Six and a Half Motives will be well worth it. Even with my gripes, they’re not enough to take away from what is most definitely a satisfying five star read. Thank you, Dense! *****FIVE STARS*****

WOW! This book was all the bells and whistles. I can't believe the things that happened in this book. It has taken a few days to even process. If you haven't read any of these books go back and read from the start. You will not be disappointed. This was a fast read. You will want to go back and read again. I Loved the ending only bc I feel Rose needs a break. I'm think I'm still in a haze as to some of the stuff going on. If you are looking for a fun filled, laugh out loud, nail biting, strong charterers, well written, Loved by everyone, list can go on....Book then run now to read.
