  • Trouble in Texas

It's a great storyline, a tad unusual but it worked. It's a great love story that jumps off the page even when the man does and says dumb things, so well written.

  • Romance meets the world of smuggling

A romance with some suspense, Trouble in Texas highlights the problem of smuggling exotic birds. Cat runs a rehabilitation sanctuary for injured birds, alerting Fish and Wildlife Service agent, Mark to the possibility of her involvement in the operation. When it is confirmed that the next deal is going down in backwater Redfish, Mark is on high alert assessing likely suspects. Despite his best intentions, Mark falls for Cat and his on-again, off-again behaviour confuses her. As the couple come to know and understand one another, Mark realises that he has to look further afield for his suspects without exposing his suspicions. In spite of the nature of Mark's work, there is nevertheless a vulnerability and sensitivity about him that draws Cat and when he faces a crisis, Cat is right there willing to give him the support her needs. However, when the spotlight for the crime of smuggling falls on her family, Cat is devastating as she realises that she has been used as a way to gain inroads to her family. The romance in this book was sweet, whilst at the same time exposing the very real problem of exploitation of exotic species and greed. I did purchase this book and I also received a copy from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
