  • Goes straight for your heart

This book was...like WOW! This book may have a shorter length and be fast-paced but trust me when I say that it is going straight for your heart and scoring a direct hit. This story is gripping and intense. I refuse to give spoilers but if you have a very soft heart and/or are a huge animal lover parts of this book might be too much for you because your heart is going to break and you're probably going to be quite angry, I know I was. That being said, I found all the wear and tear on my heart and emotions to be totally worth it. This is my frank, freely posted review.

  • WOW!

What an intense story for this war dog, Bernie, that is scheduled to die in just a few days. There are some people who have no heart, the manager of the pound where Bernie, the war dog was being held is a perfect example. He is actually anticipating the destruction of this noble animal claiming that she is mean and has attacked a woman, therefore, she must be put down. Bernie has an advocate, Addie, who is trying to save the dog from being wrongfully put down because her sister, also named Bernie, begged their parents to adopt the war dog because she has the same name. Dogs can smell evil and War Dog Bernie took an immediate dislike of Bernie which started the hate filled path of Bernie, the sister, to have Bernie, the war dog, destroyed. Bernie, the sister, is one of the most spoiled, entitled and arrogant individuals ever. She finally admitted she tortured the war dog and starved her because she hated the dog. She goes so far as to lie about Bernie being mean and biting her multiple times in order to have the dog declared vicious and therefore, required to be put down. Thankfully, Tucker arrives to Miami to save the dog and also to attend his sister’s long anticipated wedding. Saving Bernie is not going to be easy, but Addie is there to help along with Tucker’s brother-in-law, Rodney, who has connections with the governor, and Tucker’s teammate, Badger. Together, Tucker and Addie get to the pound just in time to liberate Bernie despite the pound manager attempting to accelerate Bernie’s end of life date. I enjoy how Tucker and Addie advocate to save an innocent animal from unnecessary destruction and how Bernie is able to show off her skills and stunning canine personality. I also was pleased to see how Addie was also a positive influence for Bernie. Things get ramped up as Tucker and Addie go through some intense moments involving the arson incidents at Rodney’s construction site. We also get a sweet and tender moment for Tucker’s sister, Molly and her marriage to Rodney. Fast-paced and suspenseful keep the reader’s interest. There is a lot more details to this story that I won’t say here. I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone. The HEA is heartfelt and their bond is made by their combined love for Bernie, the war dog. I loved this story.

  • Protecting the Innocent

I love the The K9 Files Series. Each book is a standalone but why miss great writing? In this case, Tucker is fighting for the War Dog slated for death, the "aggressor" in an attack. Nothing is as it seems and that is so true for the report on the dog attack. In the meantime, Tucker is due for family time, a wedding for his sister, and simple it is not. A page turner most certainly. Warm, funny, a bit scary and a nasty element as well. Another great tale by Dale Mayer. Bravo!! • A wonderful page turning read

Tucker is sent to rescue Bernie, a retired war dog. Bernie needs to be rescued from the pound, before she is euthanized. Tucker meets Addie, and together they get thrown into a pretty bizarre set of circumstances, with a totally unexpected twist. Addies sister, Bernie is a despicable person that had me boiling throughout the book. A page turner, and a nail biter.
