    12 years a slave

Good book. Realistic but i thought Uncle tom's cabin was better. Both pretty harrowing. Found it difficult to follow the time line but maybe that reflects how he felt about the passing of time

    Moving

What is amazing about this book is that the author remains objective about his awful experience, while most people would have long before become bitter and hopeless. Eye opening, uncomfortable, and something everyone should read.

    Good story, but as expected.

I enjoyed reading "Twelve Years a Slave". It is descriptive and puts your mind in a place where the reader can really grasp the torment and struggle of being a slave in the South. It was interesting to learn about Solomon's life and struggle, and I wanted to keep reading in order to see how he ended his twelve years of slavery. I guess knowing that he escaped slavery after 12 years before starting the book (not a spoiler...its the title!) didn't allow for a twist or great ending that I typically look for in a story. But that's too be expected. Good story though, and would recommend.
