  • Satisfying Collection

Love Mary-Anne O’Connor’s books - how they all follow the characters as they grow up and evolve. Love the way everything is written, sad there are only 3! Definitely recommend reading all her books, especially if you’re seeking war-based romance with a touch of Sydney, Australia.

  • Warflower

Good. Sad at times. Hard at times. Needed to finish the book to have closure.

  • A great story about Vietnam

I enjoyed the stories and remembered the time of Vietnam. It brought back how this war was different from WW 1 and 2 but just as horrific. It also reminded me of the dreadful way the soldiers were treated on their return home.

  • Stunning and heart-wrenching

This is the first time I've come across Australian fiction of this kind: romantic, certainly, but War Flower is so much more. Set during the Vietnam War it is impossible not to be moved by the experiences of both the soldiers and the women who love them. You will fall in love with the characters of twin sisters Poppy and Rosemary and their boyfriend soldiers Ben and Angus and I would hazard an educated guess most will cry and laugh throughout. It's beautifully written and I highly recommend this third, stunning novel by Mary-Anne O'Connor.

  • War Flower

Absorbing read and very believable. So many lives have been affected by wars and yet they keep happening. The wide ranging effects were brilliantly expressed leaving you not wanting to put the novel down until you had found out just where you were being taken next.
