  • A very emotional read

This book is an emotional tale of the unbreakable bond of brothers. Whilst the focus is on Joey, the reader can see clearly the love both of them have for each other. Morpurgo cleverly tells a believable story through the viewpoint of Joey, with the feelings of suffering and loss feeling incredibly human. This encourages the reader to feel connected to Joey as Morpurgo’s skilful description combines Joey’s suffering and the horrors of war which is scattered throughout the book. With many highly emotional points, this book is an emotional rollercoaster with twists and turns, leaving the reader feeling completely involved in the book. The brotherly bond of the two tugs at the heartstrings of readers, no matter their age.

    Thanks for your feedback!
