  • A fun collection of stories

I liked the stories in this collection. They are fun and show the backstories of some of the characters in her other books. I rarely give a 5 star, but this collection deserved it.

  • A must read foundation book for the W&W series

I have just finished re-reading Water Witch and I am so glad that I went back to re-read all the books in the Witch and Wolf series by RJ Blain. I didn’t realize just how important this book is to the series until I had read the other books and came back to this one. Water Witch is not a lengthy novel. It is a series of novellas following the main character, Dustin Walker, from when his powers as a water witch emerge through his learning to cope with his new powers, and finding his way forward with these new powers. This book is important to the entire series because it gives a foundation to other stories in the Wolf and Witch world. We are introduced to what it means to be a water witch as well as to some characters that we see in later novels. We meet Mathew Sander, Dustin’s Uncle, and we meet Charles and Wendy Desmond – These are recurring characters in many of the Witch and Wolf novels. Sander’s story is told, several years in the future, in the novel Beneath a Blood Moon. Included with this book is a short story – A Christmas to Remember. This is the story of how Richard and Alex Murphy came to Yellowknife. I can’t tell you how happy I was when I was reading The Winter Wolf to find Richard and Alex, and Desmond were part of the story. After reading The Winter Wolf I had to go and read Tales of the Winter Witch – this series of stories can best be described as the courtship of Nicolina and Richard. When I look back at all the stories in the Witch and Wolf world I realize the author is weaving together a very intricate pattern bringing all of her characters to life. I understand that Water Witch will soon be available as an audio book. I can’t wait to listen to Dustin’s story to hear it come alive!

  • Loved all the witch & wolf etc stories in this boo

I am not sure how to rate this book. I love & adore all of her writings & stories of the witch & wolf series, balancing the scales (waiting book 2), wolf hunt (waiting book 2). They make sense & are highly addictive reading. On the other hand, I loathe her writing in the magical romantic comedy stories & books. So your choice.

    Thanks for your feedback!
