  • Who knew?

Iain Banks does convincing, believable, hugely entertaining comedy. A satire, not only of religion, faith and cults but also of the society that the cult exists in , though apart from, through the eyes of the, apparently, naive but actually, fiercely intelligent, Isis Whit; who, by virtue of the fact of being born a "leapyearian"; on the 29th of February, is the "Elect of God" of the Luskentyrian cult, founded by her grandfather. The plot is too complicated to synopsise here but basically it charts the protagonists journey to truth and power by , essentially, retaining her faith, against the odds. JUST READ IT!
