  • A fond farewell to Jack

A gift from a gifted writer, White Dog is where we bid farewell to Jack, Drew, Enzio, the Youth Club and a host other believable characters that I feel sure I could still find in the bars and cafes of inner city Melbourne. ln this final instalment, the cops and robbers plot plays second fiddle to the poignant journey of a middle aged man struggling with loss and expectation. And with the exception of the interaction with the white dog itself, the action is more believable. I will miss Jack. As I miss Peter.

  • White Dog

More classic Temple .... fairly violent and brutal in parts but still a cracking read

  • Jack Irish

Jack continues to make enemies without trying while looking for the bad guy. Maybe this time he will be lucky in love. Evocative writing - Melbourne as it is. The added element of horse racing and gambling introduces some adrenaline and charm. There are some fascinating and likeable characters drawn from all ages and walks of life. Then there are the scum also all ages and walks of life. Very hard to put down.
