  • Motivation

Please read. Your long term health depends on it. For years, I dismissed the low-carb hypothesis as pure dangerous nonsense. A family member lost a lot of weight on such a diet in the late 90's and I was so upset with him for taking such a "dangerous" approach. Now I understand the science behind it. I also read Good Calories Bad Calories which I found fascinating. This is more of an average read, less detailed but still makes a great case. I want everyone I know to read and understand the damage done to most of us by all the sugar and refined carbs of our modern western diet. It's motivated me to change mine. The benefits were better than weightloss alone (still plenty to shed) after the transition period, like stable mood, significant decrease in inflammation (unexpected and welcome), and the delivery from pangs of hunger.

  • Brilliant

Excellent exploration of the science and history that has lead to the obesity and diabetes epidemic. Provides genuinely useful insight into how our bodies work and what the research actually shows about dietary fat, carbohydrates, weight loss, obesity and all the associated health complications. Finishes with a call to action for doctors and scientists, and simple advice for the lay person.
