  • Independence Falls, Book 4

As posted on The Smutty Kitty reviewed by KittyKelly 3 out of 5 Licks I think you can tell from my previous reviews that I have really enjoyed the Independence Falls series. I'm sad to see the series come to an end. I'm hopeful that Sara will bring us more series like this in the future. My reading tastes are all over the board when it comes to romance and this is what I would consider on the tamer/sweet end of the spectrum. The sex is definitely hot though. Brody is known as the good, dependable guy but clearly he likes his bedroom play kinky. I always love running into kink in my books so this was a welcome find. Kat and Brody heat up the sheets quickly and then dive right into awkward territory when he finds out she deceived him. That did taint my view of Kat a bit, she came across a bit unlikable for me at times. Her inner monologue went through her past so often that I grew a bit tired of it though. I did have a lot of fun going through the building of the relationship between these two. With this being the last in the series I feel like an epilogue would have been a nice way to wrap everything up. We aren't left hanging by any means, but I just wanted more of a final ending for all of the couples in the series.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • sexy contemporary romance!

This sexy contemporary romance, part of the Independence Falls series but easily read as a standalone, is the story of Brody and Kat. Though they both grew up in the same small town, their experiences were vastly different. Brody had the loving embrace of a close knit family while Kat grew up in the foster system, never feeling that she belonged anywhere or with anyone. Now she's a successful doctor and back in town to treat Brody's brother Josh. Her one-time high school crush sees the woman she is now. Can he convince her that this time, she'll find love and a home all in one fell swoop? I really enjoyed this story! From the moment they meet again as adults, the sparks are flying and the sexual attraction between them simmers, leading to a first night encounter before Brody even realizes who Kat really is. But to give him credit, when he finds out she is Josh's doctor he doesn't hold her lack of disclosure against her and even though his instincts tell him that she needs him to be her saviour, like he is for so many others, Kat is of a different mind. She's been on her own for so long, it's hard for her to contemplate. She's willing to indulge in a fling with Brody for as long as she is in town, but believes her future is back in the big city, even though she knows she'll still be alone there. I liked their interactions together, both sexual and otherwise. The sex scenes between them were well written and steamy! Equally, I enjoyed the secondary characters, Brody's brothers and their partners and the easy comaraderie between them all. Brody comes across as a really nice guy, the kind who has your back in all situations and though it takes Kat a while to realize this, once she does, she has to change her ideas for herself of what her future could be. Overall, the story really appealed to me and kept me interested from the start. It was an entertaining and sexy read. 4 stars.
