  • A must-read for Warcraft fans

Even if you’ve had this story’s details spoiled for you, like I had, you will not regret reading this novel. Spoiler may convey plot, but a Story conveys nuances that are just so, if sometimes not more, important.

  • Mediocrity

The weighting of subjects within the book was not exactly to my taste. I would have appreciated a better lore explanation for what happened to [REDACTED]. Also expected an ending closer to where the story seems to be at BfA prepatch.

  • Powerful, emotional but short

This book sets the scene for the forthcoming “Battle for Azeroth” expansion for the massive multi-player online (MMO) game “World of Warcraft”. It introduces a new character, Calia Menethil, a priestess and sister of the infamous Arthas. The one responsible for turning Sylvannas into a banshee. It’s theme is death. That of beloved, human, companions and the “final death” that some weary Forsaken seek. The Undead are one of the less played horde races (most shunning the thought of playing a rotting zombie). Like many players, my experience of this race, and it’s unique lore, is thus limited. The description of them being fragile doesn’t quite ring true - in a world of magic, presumably it is this force that preserved them from further decay and protects them from falling apart when under attack. Other than this, the story feels a little short and less engaging than Christie’s other novels. On the good side, the rest of the story is well written, in particular giving insight into the new Alliance king, and the paranoia that leads Sylvannas further down the dark path she has set.

  • A quick and easy read

The book flows extremely nicely and makes for a great introduction to the new World of Warcraft expansion - Battle for Azeroth. I particularly enjoyed the portrayal of the different races. For any fans of the lore and story of Azeroth I can highly reccommend the book.
