  • The book has an air of Bridget Jones to it

Evie Summers works as an assistant at a film agency. She has been there for seven years and never promoted, yet she feels like she has a responsibility to her elderly boss Monty to keep the place running as smoothly as she can. With bigger agencies now in the game, her firm William Jonathan Montgomery and Sons have only one important client still on their books, Ezra Chester, or as Evie calls him ‘NOB’ short for Number One Boychild. Ezra had agreed to write the script for a romance movie but is suffering from writer’s block as he doesn’t believe people can fall in love in real life like they do in the movies. In a bid to help him keep to his deadline, which now only has three months left, Evie offers to prove that you can and sets about trying to meet ‘the one’ through a series of movie-esq romance moments. What could possibly go wrong? Would Like to Meet is a fun read that follows Evie as she embarks on trying to find love, movie style. From joining a book club to throwing her drink over a man, she is armed with all the rom-coms she can find and follows their way of finding a man. Every time she completes her moves, whether with success or not, she writes a report so that Ezra can read it. The opening scene of Evie in the coffee house had me giggling and I knew this was a book I was going to enjoy. Two of my favourite characters were father and daughter Ben and Anette who have watched Evie try out her rom-com moves and with Anette now intrigued the pair become Evie’s confidants. Each chapter has a movie script opening to it letting you know where the scene was about to take place and who was in it. I actually enjoyed the chapters beginning like this and I can say that it does help you to imagine the scene in your head whilst reading. The book has an air of Bridget Jones to it with Evie’s best friends, 2 female, and one gay male, giving her tips via text messages or turning up at her house for dinner parties, lots of wine and to make plans. The book is amusing and in the current situation in the world, it was nice to just take my mind to a fun place and watch a woman get into all kinds of weird and fun situations all in the name of trying to keep the company she works for going out of business.

  • Write cute

This is a very cute fiction romcom which has huge appeal to fans of onscreen romcoms. Evie is a lovely character, hardworking but indisputably taken advantage of by her boss Monty and with little time or inclination for love since the breakup of her last relationship. A desperate attempt to keep Monty’s business afloat leads to many far fetched but very funny failed attempts to find love. There’s a fair amount of predictability to this however Evie’s madcap endeavours and the sheer warmth of the writing make for a real feel good read.

  • Read cute success!

Started off a little slow but soon picked up and by chapter 3 I was hooked. Brilliantly written, really good characters and such a good story! Had a few laugh out loud moments and I actually liked the main characters and the ending was so lovely! Pretty sure this is the authors first book? I'll be 100% reading her next book!

  • A must read if you want a feel good story.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. I Couldn’t put it down. Great characters I loved spending time with them. All I want is to read the next Rachel Winters story.
