  • Delightful, soapy fun

Rich lady buys a rural Kansas town, starts to rebuild it, and sets up a group of foster families. Rivalries, old loves, breakups, and second chances all abound. Apparently some steps have been taken to make this a TV series and I gotta say, it’s PERFECT for that. . Yeah, there are some aspects that take willing suspension of disbelief, like moving foster kids across state lines. But you know what? Who cares. The stories are compelling and heartwarming and the characters are wonderful. . For Ms Bev fans: the town is Henry Adams, which features in some of her historicals. And one character is Lily Fontaine and I can’t believe that last name is a coincidence. This is one of ten books so the exact connection may come out later... . Note for queer readers and allies: An off-page male character is laughed about for wearing women’s underwear, and the woman who was going to marry him breaks off the engagement because of this.
