Skeletons falling out of everyone's closet

Imagine it's your golden wedding anniversary and an extra guest turns up - a daughter that you never knew existed. This book is about a family following such a bombshell. Everyone is affected by the ripples caused. An enjoyable book, one skeleton falling out seems to cause a domino effect, and everyone has their own.

    Touching, heartwarming, and hopeful!

Something to Tell You is an amusing, optimistic, domestic drama that immerses you into the lives of the Mortimer family as they confront secrets from the past, accept the things they cannot change, forgive, accept, take chances, repair fractured relationships, and embrace the future. The writing is expressive, authentic, and polished. The characters are flawed, genuine, and relatable. And the plot is a compelling, emotional tale of life, love, heartbreak, acceptance, secrets, betrayal, insecurities, friendship, loyalty, and familial drama. With Something to Tell You Diamond has proven once again that when it comes to writing sophisticated, moving, inspiring stories that have strong female characters, heartfelt storylines, and an astute, insightful look into the complex dynamics between family members, she’s undoubtedly one of the best!

    A Superb Read!

What a splendid read! This novel is all about the Mortimer family; Harry, Jeanie, their four adult children - and so much more! Frankie travels from London to York to introduce herself to her biological father, Harry, not realising that he has something else going on at that moment. Her appearance sends shockwaves through this big happy family - but are they? Or is Harry not the only one who has been harbouring a secret? I've loved everything about this book; with lots of characters and plenty going on it is a packed and riveting read. The Mortimers come across as a wonderful family - but are they as happy as they seem? It's a very easy tale to sink into and I felt quite at ease with the family members and all their faults and foibles. It's a lesson that, no matter how together people seem from the outside, they have their problems the same as the rest of us. Have a good look around you and wonder - I certainly have! Something to Tell You is such a well-crafted tale that I expected to bump into the characters at any time; I enjoyed it so much that I'm sorry I'm not just beginning the book instead of having finished it. Very highly recommended to all lovers of a really great family saga.  My thanks to publisher MacMillan for my copy via NetGalley. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

Straight onto my favourite books of the year list!

Well this may have been the first book I've read in 2019 but it will also most definitely be one of my favourites by the end of the year too, absolutely fabulous book, I loved it, and would give it more than 5 stars if I could! The synopsis is about Frankie finding out who her birth father is (Harry Mortimer), after finding a hidden letter from her deceased mother, and going to meet him - unfortunately turning up unannounced during his and his wife's 50th wedding anniversary celebrations. But the actual story doesn't totally centre around that, it revolves around multiple extended members of the Mortimer family, along with an interlinking story of Frankie, her partner and his son. There is so much going on and what started off feeling like a perfect family is actually just like every other family, with good and bad points along the way. There are so many interesting storylines in this book, but they all flowed so seamlessly that I didn't lose track for a minute. It's sometimes hard to get lots of different people and storylines straight in your mind when you start a book, but I didn't find this at all this time as each person was so different. The initial shock of Frankie turning up turned Harry and Jeanie's anniversary holiday get-away into a get-away for one when Jeanie told Harry that she was going away on her own to think about things, and she proceeded to enjoy herself - good for her! But there was also a hidden identity, a child custody battle, a Mortimer running off with a younger woman, and someone finally overcoming her grief about her husband hanging himself all those years ago and moving on with her life. There was so much going on, but the characters were all fabulous, so relatable, you could really see yourself in the thick of the extended Mortimer family. Frankie was also a lovely, caring, friendly character and fit in with them so perfectly, even though it was a fledgling relationship. One of my favourite recent books and one I would highly recommend. I'm only sad that I've finished it now. Rush out and buy it everyone!
