    Loved this book

I've read so may books depicting the wives of Henry VIII. If the marriage of Henry's sister Margaret was mentioned, it gave the impression that she was making a mess of her life making one bad decision after another solely based upon her love life. Of course this was from the English Tudor perspective. It was nice to take a journey from her perspective as Queen of Scotland raising the next King of Scotland. I found this book very enlightening and thoroughly entertaining.

    Three Sisters, Three Queens

Interesting how women had to fight for their interests then and how this is still happening today!

    Inspiring!

At first I did not have much hope for this novel, as reviews while the book was newly released, were not too inspiring. I am very glad I decided to read it for myself. This novel follows in one narrative, that is Margaret Tudor. I’m the beginning, Margaret seems nothing but a selfish, spoiled, jealous Tudor princess, who you feel you will quickly tire of due to her endless bantering about her sister and sister-in-law. As the story went on, Margaret goes through many major events in her life, both sad and joyful. Her character grows, albeit slowly, but grows none the less. Halfway through my mind changed about her and suddenly began to see that she is the first royal Princess/Queen to stand up for her emotions and to not so easily bow down under a man’s power. This in these times was a major sin and would damn your soul, but Margaret through strength of spirit, broke this belief to herself and to the people of Scotland who loved her. If you loved Philippa Gregory’s previous novels, I recommend this as another enthralling read.

Love the visual of the Garden Palace near the end of the book. Little drawn out but interesting for the time. Would have enjoyed more depth on Scottish tradition versus English and how it shaped Margaret to appreciate Scotland.

    Loved it!

As usual, I never want Philippa Gregory's books to end.
