Portrait of a Reader: Maria Pacheco
Welcome back to Portrait of a Reader - our series where we delve into the reading lives of our customers, their stories, and book recommendations.
Meet Maria Pacheco - an early Kobo reader who has...wait for it...over 30,000 books.
Portrait of a Reader
Portrait of a Reader is Rakuten Kobo’s celebration of its 10th anniversary. It is a celebration of the people who inspired the company in the first place: those who put books at the centre of their lives. Download the free eBook.
View eBookWhen did you get your first Kobo?
2010.
Why did you try digital books?
I wanted to try digital to see if I'd be okay with not reading a physical book. I started with a few eBooks, and got hooked on how easy and convenient it was.
What is the biggest advantage of digital books?
How portable they are...especially when travelling. I have my books with me at all times.
What are your favourite genres?
Fantasy, romance, and literary fiction.
What is the last book you read?
Currently reading my way through the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.
Why do you read?
I find reading very relaxing. There's nothing better than losing myself in a story. If I'm not reading, I'm listening to an audiobook. There is always a story around me.
Where do you usually read?
Usually in bed, but honestly I'll read anywhere and everywhere.
What would we be surprised to see in your library?
Cookbooks...I hate cooking.
How many books are in your Kobo library?
Over 30,000.
What did you read as a kid?
Anything I could get my hands on, but I did love those Harlequin books as a teenager.
