11 books that should be made into films

By Kobo • September 15, 2017

With the Toronto International Film Festival running strong into it's second week, TIFF powerhouse Maxine Bailey shared with us the books she knows would make great movies.

Here is Maxine's film adaptation booklist:

1. I recently inhaled The Hate U Give which has just been optioned – I hear Amanda Sternberg is cast as the lead.

2. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – I was lucky enough to get an advance copy and damn, it's a good juicy book.

3. The Mothers has just been optioned by Kerry Washington's company-- I expect really big things of this.

I'm now going to go rogue, and basically mention books that should become films according to Maxine. Here goes:

4. Before the Fall by Noah Hawley

5. The Trap by Melanie Raabe

6. Siracusa by Delia Ephron

7. Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson

8. Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue

9. Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff

10. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

11. The entire Ava Lee series by Ian Hamilton about time we got a female protagonist in a film series!
