    Excellent

I love this story...it rang true and also opened my eyes more to our Canadian History and women's roles in that time!

    Wonderful!

Beautifully written novel about those women who's heartache and struggle in a vast new land could only have been considered heroic. I have thus far found three of these women in my own genealogy and knowing how very difficult life was for them breaks my heart.

    Wow! Can’t believe people survived

This was an interesting read about early Canada and how it was to be populated. You also learn about how people were chosen to go to Canada. And the living conditions once they arrived. It is hard to believe that people actually survived and thrived. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about early Canada

    Interesting

Perhaps this book is of interest to me because this time in Canadian history is part of the grade 7 history curriculum which I taught for many years. The author really brought to life a time where many people struggled just to survive. A well written fascinating story. I wanted to hear what happened next to Laure.
