    What a ride

Cask Strength delivers another exciting part of FBI agents Aidan Talley and Jameson Walker’s story. I was sucked in right from the start and have yet to get enough of these men, their banter, their heat, and the crimes they solve together. This is the second book of the series and they must be read in order. Each novel deals with a specific crime the FBI team works to solve, but there’s also a continued arc over the course of the series that deals with the investigation into the not-so-accidental death of Aidan’s husband and his partner. Cask Strength has the team off to North Carolina where Jamie reenters the basketball world as an undercover agent. Jamie’s love for the game of basketball and the conflicted interests of returning to that career or continuing as a FBI agent are central to this book. Seeing Jamie warring over that decision gives a little more insight into his personality and the plot an extra oomph. The investigation takes a few surprising turns, and the action scenes plays out with a good sense of urgency and intensity. While the men are in North Carolina, the ongoing investigation into the terrorist linked to Aidan’s ex-partner and husband turns up new connections. There were a few surprises and teases of more to come, setting book three up to be full of big reveals and some explosive moments. Not only does the return to Jamie’s home and their current assignment have Jaime questioning his future as an agent, but it also leads to some tense exchanges over the men’s “casual” relationship, forcing the men to address their feelings for one another head on. I really liked how the romance unfolded a bit more in this one, though I’m now left wondering what the next book will hold for the couple. Whatever they face, I’m certain they will once again be burning up the pages with their intense physical chemistry. Between the crime investigation, the individual storylines, and the romance developing between Aidan and Jamie, there’s definitely a lot going on in Cask Strength. However, it never feels overburdened with details or competing subplots. The pace throughout the book is fairly brisk. There’s a nice mix of a building relationship and letting the characters really develop in their own time, but the action and crime forces the plot to keep moving and kept me glued to my e-reader. Add to that charismatic characters and upbeat dialogue, and you have a guaranteed win for me. If you’re a fan of law enforcement romances or romantic suspense, this is a series worth checking out. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*

    Cask Strength

Cask Strength is the second book in the Agents Irish and Whiskey series, and I would say that you would need to read book one to understand all the nuances that go on below the surface. If you hadn't read that, you wouldn't understand why Jamie is still with Aidan when Aidan is being such a jerk! I like him, I do, but man I wanted to kick him in the beginning of this book! Luckily for me, he redeems himself, but I won't say any more on that. This is an amazing second book, where Irish and Whiskey have to cool their jets on the 'big' case as the bodies start to pile up around them. Instead, Mel sends them on what should be a simpler case, but things aren't quite what they seem. Once again, this book is excellently written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. I read this book in one sitting because I simply could not put it down. First it was because of Aidan, then it was because of Jamie, then it was because of Riley and Press, and then the ending... yeesh!!! Trust me, book hangover, right here! I can't wait for the next book, and I really hope that Cam gets his own book and HEA because I think he's wonderful :) Highly recommended by me. * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
