  • Perspective Shifts

The strongest feature of this book is the clear perspective shift that the author gives to each of the interweaving storylines. In every perspective the reader encounters, there are endearing, relatable moments which string the reader along to seeing things from a completely alien view as if it was their own. This book is an intricate web of fun.

  • The Children Of Time

I was a little dubious about reading this because of my fear of spiders, but despite my apprehension I can honestly say this is one of the best science fiction books I have ever read. The human race has finally killed each other to the brink of extinction, a few ark ships are sent to find a place to begin again on planets that have been transformed to be habitable for human life. Without giving too much away, things don't go according to plan, our arachnid friends evolve quite quickly, due to a unforseen event? The spiders learn to communicate, becoming sentient social creatures, to the point of space exploration? It may sound daft, but it is thoroughly entertaining, moving and though provoking. When human and arachnids meet, it had me wanting the spiders to come out on top, do they? Well read it and find out. Highly recommend.

  • Wait to buy till it is on sale

This was a really neat concept but was one of the hardest books I ever had to push through. It could cut at least 10 of the chapters out and still be a good book. It drones on and on about the same things, yet when the action does happen it is over before you know it and you are stuck reading all the drudge again. Wait till it goes on for cheap, save yourself a dime.....

  • Children of Time

The best crafted and imagined pure sci-fi book I have read in a long time. Would encourage you to stick to sci-fi instead of your earlier fantasy books. Also really refreshing to have a stand alone not series of books.

  • A fascinating read

This is top-quality hard science fiction. Let's hope he writes some more (instead of fantasy). An impressive new voice.
