Excellent story by an excellent storyteller

Ashby is a first-rate storyteller. I did find myself confused a couple of times about what exactly was happening in the story, and parts of the ending had me going, "what? what?" in surprise, but I suspect that's more to do with me than the story. I was gobbling the story up and maybe should have taken more time to digest. :-) Loved the main character, loved the world Ashby created. Will now hunt down everything else she has ever written.

    Inovative

Readers will be impressed with the technological advances intevrated into future humans. Ordinary human unpredictability gives the plot its punch.

    Brilliant, innovative, science fiction

I really enjoyed this book, Easily the best book I read in 2017. The characters were really unique and I definitely felt a strong bond with them. Hwa is one of my favourite protagonists ever: A strong Woman of Colour who also has a disability, not that she ever lets it slow her down. The Science part of this science fiction novel is pretty high end and helps set the world apart from other novels as does the location. I enjoyed how the plot was laid out and information revealed.

    Sci-fi Mystery Goodness

This was a different style of book than I'm accustomed to, but I enjoyed it a good bit. The main character is very intriguing and Ashby gives her a more-than-interesting back-story. While I was initially disconcerted with the way I was dropped into a sci-fi world I knew nothing about, I did enjoy the fact that I wasn't inundated with the details of "how things came to be." Company Town has a nice, lighter Blade Runner feel to it, that I enjoyed quite a lot.
