    A powerful romance

This is a well written, heart-warming romance depicting family in a way that makes one grateful for all those people in our lives who stand by us. When Ava loses her family in a fire, and with danger pursuing her, she is taken in by Rowdy the local fire chief. Rowdy’s life was crumbling after the death of his wife, and Ava and her unborn child gave him new meaning and purpose. However, with Rowdy came his son, the ultimate bad boy and womaniser. Ava and Dax gave each other wide berth over the years, but the attraction between them is plain for all to see. When tragedy strikes, it draws the small unconventional family closer together and Dax eventually recognises that if he is going to keep the most important people in his life, namely Ava and her little girl Olivia, he has to stake his claim. Ava is guarded and despite her feelings for Dax, she is careful to keep the shutters of her life closed. When her past intrudes and puts both Ava and Olivia in danger, her first instinct is to run, but Dax’s powerful need to keep them safe has him taking charge and protecting them. I loved the characters in this book: Dax’s powerful but gentle caring, Stone’s tempering influence, Rowdy’s presence throughout the book, Ava’s determination to keep her daughter safe, Olivia’s unconventional approach to life especially given her age, and Wanda’s gentle nurturing of the whole family. I found this book to be well written, with a good flow of language. Although this book is part of a series, this book is nevertheless a standalone. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

    Great Read

The book is well written and entertaining with twists I didn't see come and had me sucked in from the start. I was so strong involved in the story that I sometimes want to kick either Ava or Dax in their butts. They fight against their love for each other almost forever. But there is one truth: Love defeats everything and wins always. This is my first read from Shannyn Leah but definitely not my last I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

First bad boy to go down

When bad boys turn good Dax will be at the head of the line as he proves his feelings are real. When tragedy strikes it reminds them both that there is so much more to life. While Ava is ready to hit the road at the first sign of trouble Dax is ready to put all his baggage in the fire and go full speed ahead. This is a great story with some intrigue and suspense thrown into the midst. The pain and sorrow rings thru loud and clear but then again so does the fire that burns between these two. Love the start of the series and this standalone is most definitely just the start of what promises to be some good reading.

    Outstanding!

Dax is my new favorite Shannyn Leah book. Ms Leah has delivered a well-written book. The story is fantastic and the amazing characters are perfect for this story. Dax is a volunteer firefighter and auto restoration shop owner. Ava is a single mother and school teacher. Their story is full of drama, action, suspense, humor and spice. I totally love this book!! Olivia steals the show with her cuteness. So many things about this book that I like, hard to pick what I like best. The characters, the humor, the story itself. I can't decide, I just love it all. Do yourself a favor, read it for yourself and you decide. Dax is book 1 of the Bad Boys of Willow Valley Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

    Grab the tissues

Shannyn Leah does it again with a story that will pull at your heartstrings. You will want to have the tissues handy for this one. Both Ava and Dax fight the attraction that they feel, not wanting to get close to the other due to tragedies in their pasts. I thoroughly enjoyed the different relationships that are throughout this book. Rowdy took Ava in when she had no place else to go and I loved Olivia's close relationship with Rowdy. Along the way, you meet Stone and Hawk. You will want to reach out and slap Hawk from time to time but I'm sure Shannyn has plans for him. You also see the dynamics of the firefighting family. Just because you aren't related doesn't mean you're not family. When heartbreaking tragedy strikes, you will really need your tissues here, it pushes Dax and Ava to overcome their fears and to come together. I can't wait to read the next installment of this series. Shannyn never disappoints. If you haven't read any of her work yet, what are you waiting for? You can't help but fall in love with her characters.
