    A fun, feel good read

Faking It features a fun, fast-paced plot which follows two relative strangers from different socio-economic circles who enter into a fake engagement. This is the second book of the series, but can easily be read as a standalone like I did. As this was my first book by this author, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but will happily watch for more from Miss d’Abo in the future. The writing style in Faking It has a casual, vibrant tone that kept my attention and made it a joy to read. The dialogue flowed well, fit with the character profiles, and included a good amount of humor to carry the lighter vibe of the book. I found both characters likable with an interesting backstory and a good amount of depth. The timeline for the book is condensed due to the plot depending on Grady’s brother’s upcoming marriage, so things evolve quickly between Max and Grady and there’s a touch of instalove here. However, this was a really cute couple who are fun to watch learn each other’s ins and outs and just enough sexiness to round out the romance. The conflicts driving the plot are a bit of a stretch in some ways, but make for a good story adding a touch of drama. The resolutions did feel a little too convenient and quick to wrap, but I was happy with how the book ended and finished with a smile on my face. While there are some less believable moments in Faking It, the characters and entertaining story make it easy to roll with it. Simply put, this book made me happy. This would make for a great pick-me-up read- it’s a fairly straight forward, lower angst romance with good characters and a fun, flirty style. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*
