    Fast-paced, flirty, and fun!

Who would ever suspect a mortician would also be an amateur sleuth? That’s exactly what Zara Romano is, and a feisty one at that. She can’t help it: she’s Italian and Irish. And a redhead. Not surprising that she’s got a temper hot enough to knock the biggest man to his knees. Zara lives and works in Salem, Massachusetts, at her family’s funeral home with two of her brothers—she’s got six of those. She’s got a pesky ex-boyfriend, Marcello Ponti, who’s a police detective as well as drop-dead gorgeous (no pun intended). Add to that her faithful pooch Smooches and two widowed nanas who live next door, and there’s no chance Zara will be getting lonely or bored. Things get even more interesting, however, when Zara and Smooches find the mayor hanging from a tree—drained of all his blood. When two more bodies show up in the same condition, Zara starts digging for clues. Could there really be a vampire in Salem? Five glowing stars for the first of this new series, as the author hits a home run. Her amateur sleuth is not only unique in her profession, but she’s witty, bossy, and delightfully sassy. She’s surrounded by characters just as colorful. The nanas, when they aren’t crashing funerals looking for men, always show up in ridiculous, coordinated tee shirts. The ex-boyfriend, although Zara’s sworn off the playboy, won’t give up—and he’s pretty hard to resist. Not just a cozy mystery, this series promises to be as hilarious as it is intriguing. It will be hard to wait for the next installment of the Zara Romano Mystery Series. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher.

    Great Series Starter

What a great start to a fun new series with lovable, quirky and awesome characters. The interaction between Zara the mortician, her brothers in blue, a lunk of an ex-boyfriend, feisty nanas and her faithful dog named smooches is fabulous. This story has a little bit of everything for readers of all genres. There is mystery, suspense, romance and humor. I would recommend it to any reader who enjoys this type of book. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next book in this incredibly fun series. “I received this book from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.”
