    Sexy friends to lovers romance!

What a fun and sexy story! It's the classic trope of best friends turned lovers, in this case Lexi and her 'stand-in boyfriend' Mac. They've been best friends since college but since when they met Mac was involved with someone else, Lexi has firmly placed him in the friend category. Unbeknownst to her though, Mac has had thoughts of them becoming a couple for a long time. Getting a chance to show her the chemistry between them is his goal, and when one night of passion finally happens he's hoping it'll go a long way to showing Lexi how things could be between them. But when Lexi wants to stick to a friends with benefits arrangement, will that be the death knell to things progressing the way Mac has always wanted - and even worse, the end of their friendship? Though this is a novella, there is a lot packed into the story as Max and Lexi's friendship turns into a steamy affair (and yes, there might have been actual steam coming off my ereader). Lexi must have blinders on not to realize that her geeky college friend is actually a hot and sexy man, though with a little alcohol she suddenly sees him the way other women do - as an available, attractive hunk. I liked both their characters, Lexi as a friendly and successful businesswoman with no time to spare for relationships and Max as a charismatic, confident entrepreneur. There is no doubt of their sexual chemistry(and their love scenes are super hot). But Max wants more, and it's going to be all or nothing for him. He had a sweet side to him that along with his cocky, devil may care attitude made him the perfect hero. There was another aspect to this story that I really liked and that was the unconventional family that Lexi comes from . She has two dads, calling them Dad and Papa who are a gay couple that adopted her as a child. They play a key role in the story too, as their acceptance of Mac (and he of them) is important to Lexi, having experienced discrimination towards them from previous boyfriends and their families. She has a close though different relationship with each of them. As well, Lexi's circle of girlfriends added some fun times to the story. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and sexy read. 5 stars!

    This is real

Lexi and Mac have been friends since college. She calls him whenever she needs a date to go with her to functions, since she is just too busy for a relationship. He, in turn calls her as well when he has business functions and such that needs him to have a hostess as well. Lexi likes being his friend, they have a lot in common. They both love hockey, food, and each other. Lexi's girlfriends think there is more to it. She just doe not realize it until she is shaken by a shocking revelation. Mac, has been in love with her for so long. He has started to give up on her ever returning his feelings. She is always talking about how they are friends. Now she wants to make clear she is happy to be friends with benefits? Lexi does have to keep busy and work hard to make her even planning business successful. Mac understands, since he is a successful business owner himself. The real question is why can't they be happy together? This was such a good story! Right from the start you feel for the characters. I enjoyed reading their slow build. It was good and the development is clear for the reader to understand. ***This ARC copy was free from Netgalley.com and its publisher, for review purposes. This light, fun, sexy read will give you an afternoon of complete entertainment. A straight forward friends to lovers romance with great characters, great writing, and a quick pace. Lexi and Mac have been friends forever but friends without benefits is gone after one wicked night. Mac has been in love with Lexi for years and hopes that night will have them moving forward as more. When Lexi declares she wants to keep everything on a friends with benefits basis, he feels all is lost. Will Lexi be able to handle it if Mac moves on??? This is one I definitely recommend!

    Wonderfully simple and simply wonderful!

Lexi Mannis is on her way up: she owns a catering business, and her very important dinner for a prominent Chicago couple turns into an epic disaster: the food suppliers vanished and someone claiming to be security fled with expensive gifts that were for the birthday girl. Her friend Mac, whom Lexi met in college is the stand-in boyfriend of the title. Mac has been in love with Lexi for a good while, but he doesn’t want to risk their friendship and makes do with accompanying Lexi on dates, but without the usual physical stuff that goes with it, that is sex. Mac – Macauley Northrop – is a millionaire tech entrepreneur, and he’s a very nice guy. Once again Lexi asks Mac to do her a favour and escort her to an art gallery opening, not Mac’s favourite thing, but all of Lexi’s girlfriends are busy and he obliges because he cares so much for Lexi, if only she loved him too... Ms. Jamieson doesn’t waste a minute and we jump right into the action. HER STAND-IN BOYFRIEND is a friends to lovers story, and one of the best I have ever read. I really felt that Lexi and Mac were friends, that they cared for each other; it never felt like a ploy to bring two characters together. Lexi and Mac are both very engaging; they are lovely, normal people. I loved the banter between Mac and Lexi, as well as between Lexi and her friend and roommate Vanda; it felt genuine. I also loved Lexi’s parents a lot, and the part they played in Lexi’s reluctance to commit to a relationship. This book is very well written, it flows very well; it’s modern and young, and quite original in spite of the overused trope. Ms. Jamieson avoids the usual clichés, she explores both characters’ feelings, and there are sweet and yet sizzling sex scenes. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked Lexi and Mac together.

And they say men and women can't remain just friends. I liked Lexi and Mac together. They accepted each other and were always there for one another. Kelly Jamieson did an amazing job with getting the reader emotionally involved in the story. It was not hard to develop attachments to both characters. I do have a criticism though. Midway through the story I found it to slow down and drift off pace. That is the reason why I rated it four stars instead of five. I received an ARC of Her Stand-In Boyfriend in exchange for an honest review.
