    Must read

What a powerful storyteller Richard Wagamese is. It was a hard story to read because of the subject but I couldn't put it down. It really drove home how brutally Canada's indigenous people were treated in the residential schools and in general. But at the same time it felt hopeful, that there is a chance for healing.

    Indian Horse

Gave me an understanding of the effects of residential schools in the lives of our native people. Richard Wegamese is a great writer and he speaks his people's beautiful language in English

Indian Horse broke and mended my heart

With Indian Horse, Richard Wagamese once again has demonstrated his incredible talent at using words to paint a work of art. His picture is at the same time, raw, incredibly painful, and breathtakingly beautiful. For the first and only time in a life of voracious reading, I had to step away from the story for a few days while my emotions settled. It is an amazing book; one that should be required reading in our high schools and universities.

    Indian Horse

Excellent book and story. Helped me understand the people I looked down on. I have a drop of native blood in me,something I did not want anyone to know but it now seems that is part of me, who I am, I will never look at a drunken Indian the same way again.

    Sobering but redemptive

The treatment of our native peoples can never be atoned for, but for the victims, letting go of that anger is the hardest part. The story leads us on this difficult journey.
